Shing Mun River, Shatin
The Shing Mun River in Shatin is located in the Shatin District of the New Territories. It is 7 kilometers long and starts from Tai Wai, flows through the Shatin City Center and Shatin Racecourse, and finally flows into Tolo Harbour. It was originally a natural river originating from Tai Mo Shan at an altitude of 930 meters. In the 1970s, when Shatin New Town was developed, land reclamation was carried out to fill up the original Shatin sea and form the current 200-meter-wide artificial river. There are many residential and commercial buildings on both sides of the river, and there are many bridges connecting the two sides. It is an important waterway and recreational place in Shatin District. .
