Shek Kip Mei Village

Shek Kip Mei Village is located in Shek Kip Mei, Sham Shui Po District. It was completed in 1954 and is the first public housing estate built by the government in Hong Kong. It has a total of 21 buildings using the first-type resettlement block, new long-type and non-standard type designs. The original site was built due to the Christmas Eve fire in 1953. The first batch of 8 H-type resettlement blocks witnessed the development of public housing in Hong Kong. Among them, Mei Ho House (Block 41) is a Grade 2 historical building and is now revitalized as a youth hostel and public housing museum.
