Shek Lei Village is located in Shek Lei Pui, Sheung Kwai Chung, Kwai Tsing District, New Territories. It was completed and occupied in 1966 and has been rebuilt since 1985. It is the third public housing village in Kwai Tsing District. It was originally a resettlement area of the Hong Kong Government's Resettlement Department. It was originally named Shek Lei Resettlement Area, commonly known as "Shek Lei New Area". After the establishment of the Hong Kong Housing Authority in 1973, it was renamed Shek Lei Village. The village is divided into Shek Lei (I) Village and Shek Lei (II) Village. There are 19 residential buildings and a population of about 34,000. It is the second largest public housing village in Kwai Tsing District and is known as the " living public housing museum". .
